Day 3- SKIED ALL DAY!

There were barely any lines! So Tim and I got to ski a ton.

Day 4- Town in the morning, Skiing in the afternoon. (Happy Birthday Mrs. Mann)

The town was very quiet, but we still had a lot of fun walking the streets and seeing the sights. While skiing I was much more adventurous.

Day 5- Inn of the Mt. Gods and Tubbing!

In the morning, we went to the Inn of the Mt. Gods, which was very cool. The Resort sits on a small lake and has a Casino. Tim and I played $5 worth of slots and left with $0.12! :) While we were not big winners, we did have a lot of fun. In the afternoon, Tim and I went tubbing, which Tim absolutely hated, but I enjoyed!

Day 6- Drove home, and went through Roswell, NM again!

The drive was long and hard, but we survived! Thank goodness for our Tomtom and estimated arrival time or we might have gone mad!

Day 1: Traveled from Bryan, Tx to Ruidoso, NM- 707 miles! Long day!

We drove through Waco and Lubock, Tx, and ROSWELL, NM!!! Driving in, we were really nervous that there might not be any snow because there was only snow once we got to Ruidoso!

Day 2: Tim and I went skiing at Ski Apache in Ruidoso, NM.

Actually Tim went snowboarding and I went skiing. Luckily I remembered most of the stuff Tim taught me the one time he took me skiing in college. We had a really awesome time and the weather was perfect. Plus there weren’t a lot of people, which made it even better! Hopefully we won’t be too sore tomorrow and will have just as much, if not more fun!

PS Happy Birthday Jon!

Travel: On Sunday we began our journey. Tim’s flight left without a hitch to Richmond, but my flights were not so lucky. My flight to DC (then Syracuse) was cancelled. After trying to figure out how to get home the ticket lady was able to book me on a flight to Charlotte, NC- then to Richmond, VA, then to Philly then to Syracuse!

When I got to Richmond, my flight to Philly was delayed, then cancelled. Luckily, Jon had gotten to the airport to pick up Tim a few mins before. I was unable to get a flight until Christmas Eve to NY. Thankfully I was in Richmond and was able to go to the Mann’s house. Later that night I was then able to get a flight for Tuesday! So, now I’m finally home.

I had a really good time in VA with the Mann’s! And now I’m having a good time with my family. Now hopefully going home will be a little easier.

I hope you are having a great holiday with your families!

Take care, Laura

I (Laura) have been fully admitted to TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY as a Graduate student!!!!! It was official yesterday!

Happy Holidays!!!

Tim and I had a great Thanksgiving with my mom. We got to eat at Sandra Bullock’s restaurant Bess Bistro in Austin, went to LBJ’s Library in Austin, saw a ton of movies, had FRONT ROW seats to a Barbara Bush speech that President Bush 41 was also at!, met Reveille,  went to the Bluebell Ice cream factory, a monastery with miniature horses… and a ton more! :) It was AWESOME.

We can’t wait for Christmas break! (see entry below for x-mas info)

Enjoy the pictures!

It’s November!?!
The semester is starting to wind down. I took the GREs a couple of weeks ago and got the score I needed! I hope to have my application completed by Friday, if not sooner! My plan right now is to take one class next spring and start full time in the Fall. I’ll pursing my Masters in Youth Development through the Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Sciences.
Tim is doing well. He has had a very busy semester. He has been doing some consulting for a company in Austin, he is a Teaching Assistant again and is also taking a class.  This semester he also presented a poster at Rice University in Houston! Next semester he will be taking his last official class and then he will be working on his dissertation! Only a couple of years left!

We have bought our plane tickets for Christmas. Tim will be in Virginia from Dec. 20-Jan. 1 and I’ll be in New York from Dec. 20-Jan. 1. Since we will not be spending the holidays together, Tim and I have planned a week long trip to New Mexico to go skiing in January (3-8). As of right now our trip to Rome is on hold. We think it would be best to go after Tim graduates, so that we can save more money and possibly have a longer trip and see more of Italy. We haven’t given up yet!

We hope that everyone is doing well!

Take care, Laura and Tim

Last night while roaming through Micheal’s Arts and Craft store, we found these awesome hats! Then we found these awesome tee shirt paints and wooden animals!

Homemade costumes are the best!

Tim is a Monkey in a Jungle. I am an Elephant in the Jungle.  (Jungle Artwork done by  Timothy!) We had a nice night with a few of our friends…but only like 6 groups of kids knocked on our door! So sad… we have so much candy and my belly hurts….

It’s Halloween time! Tim & I had a really fun time painting pumpkins for Halloween!:) My pumpkin is the witch… does Tim’s pumpkin look like someone you know?? We hope you like!

PS: Please pray for me! I am taking the GRE on Thursday, October 29th! I am very stressed out about it. Also, Tim is going to his first conference while in Grad school! He will be participating in a Poster Presentation! If you’re curious, the title of his poster is: Extending Prenatal to Postnatal Motor Skills. He would be happy to talk to you about this if you have a lot of spare time and a great attention span.  Jk (well, kinda)

Tim turned 25 this week! He is now officially old. (JK) I had a birthday parade for him and awesome tickets to Sea World San Antonio. Yesterday (Saturday, Sept. 26) we spent the day with Shamu and his friends. It was so awesome.

Highlights from the trip:

1. Seeing Tim’s terrified face, on the Steel Eel, roller coaster! (We believe it was his second time on a real roller coaster… as a Ramirez, this is hard too believe.)

2. Seeing Viva (dolphin show) and Believe (Shamu show).

3. Laura petting a dolphin!!! Yes, I, Laura Mann, petted a dolphin and was not scared!

4. Tim ending up under a waterfall on the “Rio Loco” white water rafting ride.

5. 4D Pirate show! (Fake crabs crawling up our legs, bird poo falling on our heads, bees stinging us and getting splashed by the captain- who walked the plank…it’s hard to explain, but it was awesome!)

School is back in session! Once again, we are thankful that Tim is a Teaching Assisant this semester. He will also be doing some consulting work for a new company in Austin (but working here in College Station). Not only that but Tim is also taking a course. I don’t know how he does it all!

As for me, work is keeping me busy. We have a new system/database that makes my life very stressful, but in time I’ll get use to it. This semester I am not taking any coursework, but I am studying my butt off for the GRE. Tim and I have been sending our weekends at the library and I’m working my way through the Math book I got for the GREs… it is super thick… I feel like I’m never going to get through it. I’m planning on taking the GRE in late October… I hope a month and a 1/2 is enough time!

Other than that, not much is going on. Tim’s birthday is coming up (Sept. 22) and I got us tickets to Seaworld in San Antonio for his Birthday weekend! I’ll definitely post pictures of our trip!

We hope that everyone had a nice summer! <3
